OPEN AUDITION

So, this is the place where you can participate in the open audition for Text Me Back roles.

And how do you do that? Well, you go ahead and choose one (or a few more if you’d like) of the eight characters down below. You download both the lines and the characters files, read them carefully, and then you act the hell out of it. When you’re ready, go ahead and send your submission to contact@playtextmeback.com. Please send it in using an email you check pretty often, as I’ll contact you using email replies. Expect a reply a few days after the deadline passes if you get the role.

However, if you, for some reason, don’t find a character that fits you, you’re also welcome to just send in a general voice acting sample, though I do prefer if you try doing one of the characters below. If you’re not chosen for one of the roles below but still impress me during the audition, I might find another role for you, but I’ll do so at my own discretion. The pay will be $0.04 per word. I know it’s not amazing, but since I’m paying for it out of my own pocket, this is what I can afford.

Please note that this is the first AND final open audition. This is your chance to be a part of Text Me Back. There will be no redo. This is it. So, be aware that the last submission date is Tuesday, February 28.

General things I’m looking for: people with a great microphone, great acting ability (can perform different emotions), and the ability to do a convincing American accent (as neutral as possible). Also, I should mention that this is a mostly serious story (with some humor), so I’m looking for a natural style of acting—similar to Life is Strange.

In the documents containing the lines, I’ve marked the lines I want you to read in yellow, and I’ve done the same with my notes for you. In the character file, you’ll find information about the character and the story itself. Please note that not all lines have been proofread yet, so I won’t promise that they’re error-free or that I won’t change them before the final game. The clothing is a placeholder for now—the characters will wear something that fits their personality in the final game.

One last thing—I truly appreciate you taking the time to audition for Text Me Back, but I want to mention this, as I have had some people yell at me in the past. If you don’t get a role, it’s nothing personal. I’m just trying to do what’s best for the game. Insulting me or whatever won’t make me change my mind. I don’t cave to pressure.

Well, with that out of the way—here are the characters:
